Goodbye 2010 ... a year in the life!

I saw on Music, Fashion, Clutter a post like this basically Joanne showed pictures from through out the year of her best memories. I thought it was a really good post & decided to do one myself so I hope you enjoy.

January & February... I don't remember much from these months apart from lots of nights out & getting laryngitis's. I do however remember my Glasgow friends meeting my Edinburgh friends which all went well & we had an amazing night, thankfully they got on well otherwise it would have been a nightmare. Complete with long hair!

March & April ... Again I don't remember much, I know we signed our lease for the new flat & celebrated St Paddy's day in style but I think we just became closer friends again enjoying many a night on the razzle dazzle.

May... I got my hair chopped off. Best decision I think I've ever made!

June & July ... Summer of work & play. This picture was at my cousins non-hen weekend before we went to Ayr Races which was an amazing day, had so much fun & actually won some money!

August ... This was when my three flat mates & I moved into our new flat (although the above picture was taken when only three of us had moved in hence three shots. This was our first night out together after summer & was such a good night, one in which it's events shaped the past four months...

September ... Tinie Tempah! It is an awful picture but it was an amazing gig & would recommend anyone to go see him!

October ... The big 2-1!! I had an amazing 21st with my friends & family, we got all dressed up & hit one of Edinburgh's clubs where we drank & danced our socks off. It was an amazing night that I won't forget.

November ... My flat mates & I went to the rugby, I never been to a professional rugby match before & it was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing shame the match wasn't too great... but it was an experience non the less. After this I went on a date with someone I had wanted to for ages so I always associate that with this month too.

December ... Christmas! My flat mate & I put up our first Christmas tree in a home that wasn't our parents, it isn't anything amazing but it is our first Christmas tree & brightens up our little flat.

2010 has been a good year with lots happening & changing. It has been good to me & I hope 2011 is as good or better.

Happy new year everyone! :) x

Here's to the freakin' weekend

I wanted to show you a few of the lovely Christmas presents that I got from my parents. I had lusted after this fur stole from Topshop for ages & was so happy to unwrap it on Christmas morning. I love it with my leather jacket.

My mum also picked me this gorgeous clutch. It's really classic & vintage looking & would be gorgeous with a really simple dress on a night out although I need to find somewhere fancy to use it at...

I am a note pad freak, I love them & always have a pretty pad for keeping a journal in & others for lists etc so I looove this pad that she picked which will be my new diary I think. It is so plush looking.

My brother got me Jean Paul Gaultier Classique perfume which is sooo nice & very much needed! I got 'The Steamie' aswell I'm not sure if this is very well known out of Glasgow & Scotland but it is a place set in a Glasgow wash house & then turned into a novel, it is fantastically written.

In other news, I've completed a few more thing in my 100 things. 15 down, 85 to go... wish me luck. You can follow my progress here

I've also started a new weekly post called 50 Facts. Each week I basically talk about something about me, something I like or am interested in until I have 50 things. You can see these posts here.

Celebrity Look of the Week.

This is a new weekly feature here on FTF, Celebrity Look of the Week. I felt like I was just doing the same boring posts over & over so I thought I would inject some celebrity style back onto FTF.

The first FTF Celebrity Look of the Week is ...

Carey Mulligan

This dress might actually be the most Christmassy dress ... ever. Well maybe not quite but it is still a perfect Christmas party dress. It is very simple and classic which I love. Carey has kept everything else simple however although the shoes go, I'm not 100% sure about them. They seem a little heavy with the dress?!

Merry Christmas!

Just a quick post to say Merry Christmas everyone, hope you have a lovely time!

Quick outfit before I go get some champagne ...

It isn't the best picture but you can get the jist.

Black sheer blouse H&M : Black vest Topshop : Shorts Warehouse Sale : Ring Accessorize : Watch Vintage

I really love this blouse & have thought up a few different way to wear it now rather than with jeans and belted at the waist so we shall see what outfits come out of this new knowledge...

Have a lovely Christmas & I shall, hopefully, post soon.

xx

Thoughts...

Just a quick post ... would you want to see a 'My Secrets' post? I've been thinking about doing it for a while. Lemme know if you'd be interested

Also, I am setting myself a challenge in January ... I am going to photograph my outfit everyday for the whole month and post it on here. I, creatively, call this the January Challenge. xx

Hair raising...

This is a bit of a different post inspired by a piece I read in Look magazine. Basically it was about three woman who underwent drastic make overs in which they 'discovered' themselves.

If you've followed me for a while you will know that I used to have quite long hair, I always did have long hair then in May time this year I decided to get it cut in to a Frankie Saturdays style cut and since then it had gotten progressively shorter.

I love my short hair - it has made me so much more confident in myself, I feel like I can speak my mind & wear whatever I want with confidence. I know it sounds weird that a haircut can do this but I really do feel like I am being me rather than 'dreaming' of the person I could/want to be. I always get complitments on my hair, customers in my work tell me they like it which is a bit embarassing for flattering.

These are a few of my favourite things...

In the past few months I've purchased a few new bits and pieces so I thought I would show you a few of my favourites, you'll probably see them feautred in some outfits or something at some point...
I love this black skirt from H&M, it was only £20 and looks nice on to be honest I only bought it cause I liked the gold zip detail on the back. I got these floral shorts from Warehouse for a tenner! They don't look much in the picture but are so cute & comfy - worn them tonnes, during the day & on nights out.

This body from Topshop isn't something I'd normally buy but I guess that is a good thing?! I actually really love it and am thinking of somewhere I can wear it next. PLus it has started a body obession...

My leather jacket from Oasis was a birthday present from my mum and dad - I love it, it goes with everything, is so comfy and warm. The scarf is a vintage one from ebay which I love too. It is kind of short so I tend to tie it to bags.
Speaking of bags...
I got this baby from my flatmates for my birthday, I had wanted one like this for ages then saw it in a shop and fell in love! It is brown but doesn't really look too brown in the picture...

I meant to include my wedges from New Look which are my faovurite shoe but I forgot to photograph them so I will do another post soon on them. They are actually the comfiest shoes - ever! x

You are the last of the ladies...

I have no plans of going anywhere today, really I am meant to be revising for my exams next week but I decided to put on my new dress & do an outfit post.
I apologies for the rubbish picture but my room is kinda small so I need to play around with locations & where I can rest it but you kind of get the jist...

I love this dress!! I was going to get it in black but then I thought I allllways wear black so I went for a burnt orange colour which I love. I just have a gold ring on that I wear all the time & some black heart studs from Uban Outfitters that you can't see! Handy!

I'm back .... again!

To say I have been a bad blogger as of late is grossly inaccurate, I won't bore you with excuses but I do plan on getting back into as I miss it.
I bought a new camera which is a-mazing, takes really good quality pictures so I can get back into doing outfit posts and things. I think I will start doing some other more random posts rather than just fashion related...
I was going to make a new blog but I have been with this one for years so might aswell continue where I've posted so much.
So much has happened since I last posted on here ... I am 21 now, about to finish this semester at uni - exams next week eek! ugh just lots somethings that although are good memories I don't really like talking about, not now atleast.
It was one of my flatmates 21st on Friday & me being had I decided I had nothing to wear and had to buy a whole new outfit...

I had seen this floral body on the Topshop website and fell in love with it so I bought it but then ofcourse I needed a new black skirt and blazer so had to get them to...
I reallly loved this outfit, it was a little more boob revealing than I would normally go for but I really love the outfit. I wore my favourite New Look wedges but you can't really see them in the picture - they are love, also! They were amazing to avoid wet feet in the snow when we were waiting for a taxi.
I have got a few new pieces lately so I might do a post about those tomorrow possibly anything to avoid revision...
How has everyone been? x

Long time no see

Well hello ... not been on here in ages. Things have been so mental! This past week we discovered we had a mouse in the flat & then one of our 'friends' turned up wasted at the door with random boys who then smashed a window cause we wouldn't let them in! Bit of drama for the week!

I went to see Tinie Tempah last Friday which was totally amazing, I didn't expect him to be as good as he was. It is my 21st on Sunday, the 31st, so having a wee party on Thursday so hopefully will have some pictures from that to show you. Got a pure gorgeous one shoulder black dress and some gorgeous coral peep toes. I wish I could take a picture to show you but I don't have a camera at the moment :(

Hope you're all well x

Update!

Hello!

Long time no see. SOrry I haven't posted in agesss but things have been really busy. The flat is going really good, had some boy situation going on, things were up and down last week but I'm having an amazing time!

I don't have a camera at the minute so taking outfit pictures is a bit awkward. I would use my Blackberry but I can't work out how to set up wi-fi on it, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you're all well

Five things I've learnt in my Twenty years. Part four.

So this is the fourth instalment of this little series I am doing, two more to go then I think I will think of something else I can make a weekly post. Any ideas, please let me know.

If you missed part one, part two or part three then have a click on the part you missed.

16. It's not as bad as you think.

It may seem like the end of the world but it most likely isn't! Not everything will always be good, some rubbish stuff might happen to but that is just life. Tomorrow is another day & it will more than likely be better than today.

17. Don't hold grudges!

People may have done or said things that have hurt you or that they shouldn't have but you only get one life & holding a grudge towards someone isn't worth it!

18. Time is the best healer.

It may take time to get over something & it may hurt a lot but give it time & you will start to feel better. You never know it could cause a major change in your life for the good.

19. Life isn't like the movies.
As much as I would like it to be, it isn't. You don't get a happy ending you just have to keep going & be happy with the now.

20. Just because you're 18, doesn't make you an adult.
I thought that because I was 18 I was so grown up but really I wasn't and still had/have loads to learn. I was in too much of a rush to be grown up when really I should have enjoyed being 18.

The love of my shoe life!

My flatmates & I planned a nightout last night, which was really good, I realised I had no shoes to wear so a trip to New Look was in order.

I got these really simple black suede heels that I totally love! They are actually not too uncomfortable after a night of dancing although I did trip once or twice but that may be due to a few too many vodkas rather than the shoes...

Not the best picture in the world but you get the jist.
Hope you're all well. My week in outfits may not be that great this week as I have one picture from Tuesday so far. Fail! x

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

Oi Oi!

Thought I'd come on & say hello quickly before I head to bed. The move went really well & I'm really setteled & happy. Here's a quick preview of my new room which I've not got 100% how I want it just yet - too much clutter but when I do I will do a post on it I think.

I should have my week in outfits up on Sunday but it will be starting from today as Sunday I was just too busy and yesterday I had a lazy day so nothing too exciting worn. I am going out tomorrow night however so may put that outfit up aswell, if you want to see it...
Hope you're all well & having a good week x

Five things I've learnt in my Twenty years. Part three.

So this is part three of my Five things I've learnt in my Twenty years. You can find part one here & part two here if you want to check them out.

11. Go with the flow!

Sounds a little hippy-ish! I like organising & writing lists , planning even, but sometimes you just have to forget all that & just let things happen. Do things on the spur of the moment - they are usually the most fun & are what you will remember!

12. Not everyone is like you.

Not everyone likes the same things! Certain things people hate, certain things people love! I met one of my very good friends at an old place of work, at first I thought I hated him. Basically I judged the book by it's cover & I was wrong to do so! Two years on we are still good friends.

13. Nothing is set in stone!

Things change, people change. The people I was friends with in school, I don't talk to very often & haven't seen in ages simply because we went different directions & changed. We don't really have that much in common anymore and are different people to who we were when we were 16/17.

14. Live in the moment.
I am a dreamer. I love thinking about how things will be in the future but sometimes you just have to forget about what's to come & just focus on what is going on right now & to focus on the now otherwise what's the point?!

15. If it makes you happy, go for it!

You only live once, people round about you might not agree with what you are doing or who you are seeing but if it or they make you happy. Why not! Happiness makes everything much easier & smoother.
My outfit post will be coming up tomorrow or Monday. Probably Monday as it is moving day tomorrow :D Oh and I completed two of my 100 things today - 98 to go! x

100 Things.

A few weeks ago I asked on Twitter whether I should do 'New Year' resolutions seen as it is a new academic year or if I should set myself monthly challenges. One of my lovely Twitter followers suggested the 101 things to do in 1001 days, I took that idea & altered it slightly.
I have created a list of 100 things that I want to do or want to achieve in the next year which can be found here. Some are more serious than others, some should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Hopefully, I will achieve at least 90 of them?! If you are doing something similar link me!
I mention Daily Booth in one of the 100 things, my user name on there is xexfx so come follow & join in!
I will have my Week in Outfits up possibly Sunday but maybe Monday.
Moving day is Sunday so we shall see. Hope you are all well & thanks for following x

Mirrors, Cushions & cups

As I mentioned before, I am moving into a flat this coming weekend & have been getting stuff together for my new room.

I had to wooden mirrors in my room at my parents so decided to give them a lick of white gloss paint to refresh them & to give them a sort of vintagey feel. I'm really happy with how they came out & they go perfectly with the chair I reupholstered & painted earlier in the summer.

I had some fabric leftover from the seat of the chair so my lovely mother made me two cushions for the back of the chair. When I was in the material shop (I love these shops!) I spotted some burnt orange fabric with black suede detail on it & had to get it, it is actually the colour I want my wedding flowers to be - loser, so I got three cushions out of that ofr my bed. I have white bedding so they will go perfectly. My mum did an amazing job of making the cushions covers, I am tres impressed.

Another thing my lovely mum bought for me is a new cup & saucer, I love cups & saucers! I really love & it goes perfectly with my lovely red roses bought for me by .... myself.

So that is a little update on what I have for my new room, I am so excited to get in & make it all nice. I will probably do a post on it when I have it just so if you would like to see that.

Hope you're all well x

My Week In Outfits.

This is a new 'feature' on FTF, I thought it would be more interesting to do all my weeks outfits in one post. It will be easier for me too when I got back to uni. Let me know if you like this idea, please.

I only have four outfits for this week as Monday I was painting so it was old joggies & a tshirt and the weekend was my work uniform & jammies, so not very exciting!

Tuesday .. Cardigan, dress & leggings : Topshop .. Belt : H&M

Wednesday .. Dress & leggings : Topshop .. Shoes : Dune .. Scarf : Accesorize

Thursday .. Tshirt : Gap Sale .. Shorts :: Emma Creation .. Belt : H&M .. Bag & Scarf : Oasis

My Fairytale.

I was browsing some blogs & came across ...love Indigo's post about her life sorted, she talked about how she would like her life to be. I thought I would do a simialr post about my 'fairytale' life.

I doubt this will happen but you have to dream!

I will live in Paris & for for walks along the River Seine...

I will marry a handsome french man with dark hair & delivate feautres. Possibly like Louis Jordan.

Or like Hugh Jackman (Swoon!)

We will maybe have children. Three boys named Max, George & Henry and a girl called Lily, Camilla or Claudia.

I will speak fluent french. We will spend our time reading novels, drinking champagne & haviing a very romantic life...

Okay my imagination has runaway every so slightly but this is my fairytale, have to live happily ever after!!

Tomorrow I will post My week in outfits so make sure & come back for that! Hope you are all well x

Five Things I've Learnt in my Twenty Years. Part Two.

Welcome to part two of the six week series of things I have learned in my twenty years on this planet. Part one can be found here.

6. Go into things with an open mind.

If you are going to go into something with a negative attitude then it will be a generally negative experience. I guess this relates to having a positive attitude.
Don't expect everything from entering a situation, take it as face value & make the most of it otherwise it will be a miserable experience.

7. Don't change for anyone.
No matter what, be yourself. Easier said than done sometimes but if you are yourself 100% of the time you will be so much happier. This relates to the group of 'friends' I mentioned in my first one of these posts I changed into someone that I wasn't, I wasn't being true to myself & wasn't a particularly nice person to be around looking back.
Stay true to who you are, at the end of the day you are the one that has to live with yourself so you may as well live with a happy self!
8. Take the good with the bad.
Not everyday is going to be a good day. Some days will just be pants! There will be days when everything goes wrong & you just want to cry but then there will be days when you will be very content.
This goes with situation as well, the girl I was best friends with at secondary school & I bickered a lot some days we were really close & everything was good other days we couldn't stand to be around one another. It wasn't because we didn't want to be friends we were just very similar & clashed heads on things.
9. Tell those that you love, that you love them!
Last June my Grandpa died, if I am being honest it still hasn't fully become true to me because he lived down the road & we saw him all the time. My one regret is not telling him how much he meant to me because he meant a huge amount to me & was a massive influence in my life! I'm sure he knew I loved him but I wish I had let him know just how much.
If you love someone, make sure they know it!

10. Some people aren't nice! (to be frank!)

Not everyone will be friendly or nice, that is just how they are. The naive sixteen year old in me thought that everyone was a nice person something which I quickly learned when entering retail. People will be rude, stuck up, arrogant - it is just how they are, unfortunate but you just have to brush it off!

Part three will be coming up next Saturday. I will be doing my week in outfits tomorrow or possibly Monday & I have another wee cheeky getting to know you post coming up x

Ruffles & sequins

I was going through my wardrobe yesterday & came across these blouses. I had completely forgotten about them, I bought the black one to wear to my 17th Birthday dinner & then I got the grey one as a present for my 17th from the parents.
I haven't worn them in years but I think they would be cute for a night out, bit different from what everyone else is wearing.
I'm thinking over a black dress or black vest & skirt with tights & heels.

I love the sequin & ruffle detail on the front of these, they have a sort of vintage feel about them which of course I love!
What is hidden in the back of your wardrobe? x

Tuesday, 17 August 2010

I NEED your thoughts... please

This will probably interest none of you & you are all probably thinking 'Eh, Emma sweetheart we really don't care' but I need peoples opinions.
I decided to try a no eyeliner eye today just a neutral shadow & some mascara - the picture isn't very good but it is on a web cam so my apologies. What I would like to know it your thoughts on this?
Do you think it looks nice, alright, a bit crap? Basically should I bring back the eye liner?
I would really appreciate your thoughts lovelies.
Also, I was thinking of making an outfit post like 'my week in clothes' instead of random outfit posts - I think it would be easier for when I'm back at uni & stuff. Lemme know what you think about that too.

Five things I've learnt in my 20 years. Part One.

I saw this post on Sometimes Sweet about five things she has learned in her 20s. Obviously I am only eight months into my 20s but I feel like in my 20 years I have learned a few things along the way. That said I think for the next six weeks every Saturday I will blog about five things I have learned in my 20 years.

I like reflecting & from doing this I have realised that between 17 and 20 I have learned a lot & changed as well which is inevitable.

1. The company you keep is a reflection on yourself.

When I was 14/15 I fell in with the 'wrong' crowd. Basically I started neglecting my school work, going out & getting drunk, skipping lessons that I didn't want to go to & basically not being true to myself. After an intervention (not quite but at that age everything dramatic!) from my parents & a teacher at school I realised that the people that I was spending time with just weren't the people I wanted to be associated with. So I removed myself from that group of 'friends' which lead to comments like 'She thinks she can just talk to us when she wants & be our friend when it suits her.'

I stood my ground and was thankfully welcomed back into the group of friends I foolishly dropped.

2. If you want something then you have to ask!

Up until about a year and a half ago I was pretty shy & had very low self esteem, I hated asking for things or asking people questions. Simply because I felt as though I was bothering them then I realised that if you don't ask, you don't get basically.

I, also, realised that yes, I may be bothering them but I have a question & it needs to be answered. Sometimes I do fall back into my old way of being afraid of asking because I am worried about being an annoyance but then I tell myself to just do it otherwise I could be in this pickle for a while.

3. Having a positive attitude makes a difference.

I am a pretty positive person - some may say a little too glass half full but that is how I am! Being positive & looking for the best in a situation makes everything a little easier. I find that by having a positive attitude everything just works much better. It also means that people approach you & remember you in a different way than if you are constantly negative and whinging about everything.

4. There is nothing wrong with not being stick thin.

I always thought that in order to be pretty I had to be super skinny. It probably has something to do with low self esteem & the fact that in my early teens I was a little over weight but I addressed the issue and because of that I introduced exercise into my lifestyle & now it is one of my favourite things to do - sad, I know.

Right now, I am the correct weight for my height, I have boobs, I have a bum, biggish thighs & broad shoulders & there is no way of loosing that. I am big boned. End of.

5. Dress the way you want to.

It could be argued this isn't a life lesson but I see it this way... the way you dress is an expression of who you are. Wearing what you want to wear shows that you are comfortable with who you are & are proud to show it. My friends aren't too keen on the making an effort with an outfit everyday, I like to wear clothes than may be seen as 'dressy' for daytime but I like to wear something that makes me feel & look like I have made the effort. I suppose it is the same as not changing your personality depending on who you are with.

Cups, Cups, Cups

I love dishes. Sad & weird, I know but I like what I like. These are actually my mumma cups but I lust after them every time she produces them.
They are flower designs, they are so detailed & dainty. They are from Laura Ashley about two or three years ago & are made from China.
The first cup in the three actually has little pollen 'dots' at the bottom of the cup which you can't really see in the picture but they add a nice little touch to the cup. Plus if you have had one too many & you are given a cuppa in them you can be led to think that they are little holes in the cup!
On another note, I was thinking of setting myself either monthly goals or 'New Year Resolutions' seen as I am starting a new academic year. What do you think would be better - a single monthly goal or a list of goals/resolutions I want to complete by the same time next year? I would appreciate some thoughts on la matter.

Getting to know you.

I saw this quiz on http://http//little-elfie.blogspot.com/, she said her view on herself was pretty accurate so I though I'd give it a bash.

I would say mine was pretty accurate too, it's weird actually how accurate some of the sections are...

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.
Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
The right job for you:

You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.
How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.
Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

You can do the quiz here, if you are interested.

Inside my box of mystery.

As you may or may not know in a couple of weeks time I am moving back to the east coast for uni. Last year I stayed in halls but this year I have a flat with three lovely ladies, I am really excited about it!
Partly, and mostly, because I will be living with three of my friends & will be back doing my thang on the east coast & partly because I get to do up my room.
The furniture in the room is just a bed, desk & small (!!) wardrobe with two drawers so I obviously need more storage.
I had in mind what I was looking for & TK Max did not disappoint.

These three hat boxes came to a grand total of £15.96! I'm not 100% sure what I am going to store in them yet but I will wait till I am moved in & unpacking to decide. They are three different sizes & I thought they would be pretty stacked up in the corner of my room or something.

Shoes are my drug.

If the Shoe Santa reads this, I would like both pairs in a seven. Thank you.

I want!! The first could be practical, maybe. The second pair I would probably fall on my face but I could wear them around the house, couldn't I?!

Those three words are said to much they're not enough

I got this top for my 20th birthday & have only worn it a handful of times. I like the print but was a little unsure how to wear it.
