February 'It Girl'

This hands down has to go to Carrie Bradshaw!!

Yes, she may be fictional but her clothes rock my socks - if I could dress like that and not care what everyone thought I most definitely would!

Ginnifer Goodwin

So I have been talking for ages about going blonde well guess what I have changed my mind yet again!

The main reason is this picture of Ginnifer Goodwin - I love her dark hair and pale glowing skin. Also, I like her peachy blush - which I am not on the look out for!
I am considering going a little darker and possibly loosing the layers of fake tan that I seem to be unable to go without so we will see if I achieve this.....
I am going to have a look at some of the hair dyes in Boots that are a few shades darker than mine just now and who knows maybe sometime in the future I will go blonde but for now it is brown hair all the way. x

New Shoes

I searched in every Topshop in Glasgow for these bad boys but couldn't find my size anywhere luckily I found them online! God bless topshop.com!

They are a navy blue lace up shoe with a mid heel & I love them! I got them for wearing during the day to college etc for a change from my usual flats.

They were £60 from Topshop but I got 10% off with my student discount. I haven't worn them for a whole day yet so I will update you on the pain factor when I have done.

This is just a random picture of my wee dog, George during the snow the other week :)

Outfit 1

This is my outfit for today - I apologies that
(a) the lighting is awful - it is dark here!
(b) You can't really see what I am wearing clearly!
I'm not wearing anything that exciting today because basically this morning I couldn't be bothered thinking about it too much.

I have on a red-pink (I think it was called Rhubarb on Topshop.com) top with bib detail on the front & 3/4 length sleeves and my black woolen tulip skirt also from Topshop. I wore this with black tights and blacks pumps with gold detailing, two gold bangles & large pearls.
Not my favourite outfit ever or the best picture but I will make it better & clearer!
What did you wear today? x

My Style...

I realised today that I talk a lot on here about what celebrities are wearing and what I like/don't like about the outfits, my hair (I talk about this wayyy too often!), some make up etc and random stuff but I haven't really told you about my style or what I like wearing so I am going to do this & start posting about outfits I have worn and liked or not liked.
So my style ....
If i had to describe my style in one word it would be simple. I am not one for trying to be really quirky & really into fashion yes I love fashion but I love the way everyone adapts it to suit themselves. Classic looks are my favourite looks & I think work for my shape - i have big boobs, a little waist and a bigger hips.
I have been trying to pull off loose, floaty tops don't work for me either - I look like a potato!
Instead I go for pretty tea dresses or skirts which work for me and I am comfortable in. If I want to wear trousers I go for jeans - skinny, straight, boot cut, wide leg but never boyfriend jeans - they don't work for me at all!
I always wear cardigans in fact I have one in nearly every colour which is a tad ridiculous but what can you do. Shoes for during the day are usually flats just some pumps, boots or a mid heel. If I am going out at night I wear a higher heel. In the summer I bring out the wedges and sandals :D
Bags, scarfs & jewellery - I have hundreds of these things! To me these make an outfit. They add interest & detail that can make an outfit something special.
Whats your style like? x

Legally Blonde

I have talked about dyeing my hair blonde for along time (about 3 months!) and I am now seriously considering doing it again.
I have naturally light brown, dark blonde hair & dyed it a dark brown about a year ago (which was too dark and made me look like a ghost) anyways I want to go blonde for a change.
At first I think I will go dark blonde and then go lighter and possibly lighter or maybe get some lighter highlights over that.
I really love Delta Goodrem's hair colour! Its really boho, beachy looking and hopefully mine might look like this someday - fingers crossed.

I have been having a look on the Clairol site and this is the colour that I like
anyone else planning an image change?
Take care x

Where I do my make-up...

I had planned on buying a french boudoir style dressing table from some of the 'junk' shops in Glasgow's west end but I'm moving out in August hopefully so there is no point in spending money on something that will be at my parent's house for a year so instead I am making do with my old desk (which does the job perfectly!)

This is my desk! I have my everyday make-up in the top drawer, my skin care & hair things in the second and random junk basically in the third drawer. My everyday products are to the left of the drawers and in the little plastic drawers are my nail varnishes, bangles etc, lip stuff I don't use too often and a drawer of random rubbish (yet again!)

I slit my stuff up with plastic drawers the same as the little grey set next to my desk.
Whats your make-up bit like? Thanks to dressjunkie for inspiring me to get myself organised as well!
Take care x

Scarlett Johansson

I really love Scarlett's hair & dress in this photo. It reminds me of old Hollywood 40's glamour - something that I love!
The dress is very simple & neutral but the colour works with her hair colour & skin tone.
The dress also suits Scarlett's body shape.
In other pictures you can see her hair a little better but it is again really old Hollywood - just loose curls with a big sparkly clip holding it back on the right side. I thought this was really pretty & added a bit of glamour & sparkle to the outfit.
What do you think of Scarlett's dress?

Claudia Winkleman

An unexpected entry on A Fashionable Affair but I loveeeeee Strictly Come Dancing especially It Takes Two and I found Claudia Winkleman really fun and quriky.
Anyways, I found this picture of her at an event and I really like the outfit. In particular the red clutch - it is really classic and ladylike.
I also really like her dress although I am not a massive fan of white but it is a really pretty, girly dress. The ruffles on the skirt and down the front of the dress make it interesting and not just a white button down dress.
What do you think of Claudia's dress & clutch?

Fascinators at Accessorize

So my cousin is getting married in 2010 (I know ages away but I love getting all dressed up in like a cocktail dress plus I love wedding - just for the fact they are about love & romance sad but true!)

Anyways, I was on the accessorize site looking at stuff and I came across the fascinators (I love fascinators - if I could wear one everyday I would!)
So here are a few of my favourites ...
This one is quite modern in my opinion - Its quite quirky & is a statement piece for sure. It says on the site it is to be worn slightly covering the face. This would look gorgeous with a deep red dress, black peep toes & a black evening jacket (not a dinner jacket) but something Carrie Bradshaw would wear - if you know what I mean?! This one is £30.
This is so beautiful & vintage. I kind of remind of Audrey Hepburn in 'how to steal a million'. People will definitely compliment you on this - it is so beautiful and a total statement piece. This one costs £22 - it is totally worth it. I would actually buy this just to have it!

Something a bit less bold & out there but it is still really pretty and different. I really love the giant bow - it is so nice. This one costs £22 and is still without a doubt a statement piece.

Another one but I thought four would be over kill, this one is kind of in between the first fascinator and the third one - I actually really like this one as well!

http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/49134403

I don't know which one I would get because I'm not sure about what I am wearing (it is over a year away) so I will decided closer to the time.

Whats your favourite?

New Name...

I decided to change the name of my blog from Following the Fashion
to A Fashionable Affair.
If I am being honest I don't know why I wanted to change it but I did and I am actually happier with the new name.
Anyways the name has changed and hopefully I will update more frequently soon but college work is crazy at the moment - everything is happening at once plus I have a mock exam soon but I will try to update a little more.
Take care x

Loves at the moment...

This is just going to be a random post.
Basically I've had a pretty good day and am feeling happy & positive (nothing to complain about apart from it being freezing) so I thought I would blog about things I am loving at the moment so here goes ....
* Bright red-orange nail varnish - brightens up my day :D
* Oasis Spring Collection - bright & cheerful!
* Chanel Coco Mademoiselle perfume - this stuff is expensive but the smell lasts forever!
* Mixing Chloe & Coco Mademoiselle - I love this mix. Chloe is not over-powering & the Chanel is really strong so they compliment each other really nicely.
* YSL Faux Cils - the best mascara EVER!
* NARS Turkish Delight - favourite lip gloss of the moment (changed my mind about it since when I first got it)
* MAC Pinch o'peach blush - really pretty, soft colour
* curling tongs - sooooo much faster than using my straighteners to curl my hair!
That's all for now, take care x

Carrie Bradshaw

If I could be anyone of the Sex and the City girls I would probably be Carrie because she has amazing clothes, an amazing wardrobe & she gets Big!!
But if its up to my friends I'm Charlotte because I'm the only one with brown hair!
Anyways ...
I found pictures of two of my favourite outfits from Carrie (there are hundreds more that I love!) but here is two for now.

I love this outfit for the massive clutch!

The clutch makes the outfit. I've talked about over sized clutches before and I really do love them sadly I haven't found one that I like enough to buy yet.

This outfit is from the last season of Sex and the City when Carrie is in Paris.
To me this is what everyone should dress like! It is fashionable, individual & feminine.
What I love about the outfit it the underskirt - it is just so nice and pretty.
Also, the coat & dress are gorgeous - really classic and sophisticated. Plus the Louboutins!
If I was in Paris this is how I would dress (I would probably look silly but I can't speak French very well so I wouldn't know what people were saying unlike in Glasgow!)

Whats you favourite Carrie outfit of all time? x

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway was amazing in The Devil Wears Prada and I recently saw a picture of her at the premiere of 'Bride Wars' ( I think don't quote me on that one!) and I thought she looked beautiful.

Her look reminds me of 40s Hollywood Glamour but with a bit of a modern twist.
Her hair is very classical, she has red nails & peep toe shoes which in my opinion are very old Hollywood.
The shape of her dress is gorgeous - it is very simple but with the crystal detailing it makes the dress stand out. She looks so elegant & lady-like! I really love this dress.
What do you think of Anne's dress?
Also, is it just me or does she look reallllly skinny now? Maybe a little too skinny?
